Magic Loot Spells

The two-slot spell bar, named brews, and which potion to drink before which encounter in Magic Loot Beta.

Spells Guide

Spells in Magic Loot are the bottled brews you drink, not the auto-attack you press. Magic Magic +1 +1 +1 ties the entire combat loop around a two-slot skill bar: drink a potion, then choose Replace Skill so the bottle turns into an active spell. The first slot is always free; the second unlocks through Robux Unlock or progression. This guide maps every named spell players actually search for in late August 2026 Beta, explains how the two-slot limit interacts with Rebirth, and points you to the right guide for brewing, equipping, and timing each brew.

The two-slot spell bar

When you unlock brewing, your wizard gains a small skill bar with one default free slot. After you drink a brewed potion, the bottle normally lands in your inventory as a consumable. To turn it into a spell you cast from the bar:

  1. Open your inventory and select the potion you brewed.
  2. Press Replace Skill (or the in-game equivalent button) and choose the empty slot.
  3. The potion turns into an active spell with a cooldown, duration, and damage type.
  4. The slot stays locked to that brew until you Replace Skill again.

You start with one free slot. A second slot unlocks later, often advertised as a Robux Unlock perk—treat that as a convenience, not a paywall around progression. Core Beta play uses one slot actively at a time, then swaps mid-fight when the encounter changes.

Verified named spells in the August 2026 Beta

The names below match the recipes confirmed in the Brew Potions Gold tables. Read tooltips before you mass-craft because cooldown, duration, and damage type can change between hotfixes.

Spells in the brewing UI are not Roblox promo codes. If a YouTube video asks you to redeem a string for a spell, it is mixing up Codes (Settings-gear strings) with brewing (cauldron recipes). Keep the two systems separate.

How to slot a spell on the bar

The fastest path:

  1. Unlock the cauldron through the Beginner Route or How to Play.
  2. Brew at least one of the three Gold recipes from Brew Potions.
  3. Open the brewed potion in your inventory and choose Replace Skill.
  4. Pick the empty skill slot and confirm. The spell icon replaces the previous skill.
  5. Cast it with the bound key (default: keyboard 1 and 2 on PC, tap the bar on mobile).

If Replace Skill is greyed out, your bar may already hold two spells. Drink or sell the previous brew first.

Which spell belongs in slot one vs slot two

Use this rule of thumb until your build tells you otherwise:

  • Slot 1 — your bread-and-butter combat spell. Pick the brew that matches the encounter you farm most. Water Orb or Rocket Spell are safe first picks.
  • Slot 2 — situational swap. Reserve it for boss-only brews like Dragon Breath or a luck buff you only drink before rare-drops windows.

Both slots share a global cooldown window in observed Beta play, so chaining two offensive brews back-to-back often wastes duration. Pair one combat spell with one mobility or utility brew instead.

Spells versus Wands and Armor

Spells are timed buffs that disappear when the duration ends or the bar empties. Wands add flat Power that survives Rebirth, and Armor adds Power multipliers that survive Rebirth. The gear ladder is permanent infrastructure; spells are the accelerant you layer on top. A clean Beta build looks like:

  1. Strong Wand + Armor first (see Wands and Armor).
  2. Brewing unlocked and at least one spell slotted (Brew Potions).
  3. Dragon Breath saved for boss walls (Dragon Breath).
  4. Rebirth timed only after the gear ladder is paid for (How to Rebirth).

Do not pour Coins into a Wand you cannot afford because you spent Gold brewing decorative brews first. Brewing supports the loop, not the other way around.

Spells and Rebirth

Spells reset on Rebirth in observed Beta behavior. The brewed bottles in your inventory stay, but the slotted skills clear because the slot bar is avatar-state. Plan around this:

  • Slot Dragon Breath after a Rebirth only when you already have ingredients banked.
  • Re-equip before the next boss pull instead of trusting pre-reset loadouts.
  • Re-test training vs combat spells because rebirth multipliers can flip which brew pays off.

For timing the reset itself, pair this page with How to Rebirth and the Rebirth Planner.

Spells during the Dragon Hunt Event

With the Dragon Hunt Event + Pet System live from August 21, 2026, spells behave the same way but event timers can compress your brewing window. The three Dragon Hunt codes — DRAGONROAR, PETPARTY, TRAININGFIX — are string rewards, not spell unlocks. Spend them as free consumables via How to Redeem Codes instead of confusing them with the cauldron.

The Mysterious Event announced for August 28, 2026 at 7:00 AM is also expected to drop new codes. Keep this page bookmarked alongside Codes so you re-slot a fresh spell when the next patch ships.

Common spell mistakes

Slotting decorative brews. If a potion only changes cosmetic effects, leave it in the bag.

Letting spell duration tick in the hub. Cast on the training pad or at the boss door, not while navigating menus.

Forgetting to Replace Skill. Drinking a potion does not auto-slot it on the bar; the bar still shows your old skill.

Drinking a Dragon Breath you needed later. Reserve the named brew for the actual gate, not for show.

Mixing up codes and spells. A code string from Codes is not a brewed spell, even when both grant similar names.

Beta honesty

Spell names, cooldowns, and damage types can change without numbered patch notes. This guide covers the two-slot system, the three verified Gold recipes, and the Dragon Hunt event context as of late August 2026. When your cauldron disagrees with the table, trust the live tooltip for five minutes, screenshot it, and check Updates before you rebuild your skill bar.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from the Magic Loot loop.

How many spell slots does Magic Loot have?

You start with one free slot on the skill bar. A second slot unlocks later, often through a Robux Unlock or progression milestone. The bar stays at two slots even after Rebirth in observed Beta play.

Are spells the same as codes?

No. Spells are brewed potions slotted onto the skill bar via Replace Skill. Codes are promo strings redeemed through the Settings gear. The Dragon Hunt codes (DRAGONROAR, PETPARTY, TRAININGFIX) are codes, not spells.

Which spell should I slot first?

Slot a combat brew that matches the encounter you farm most. Water Orb or Rocket Spell from the Gold recipes are safe first picks. Save Dragon Breath for boss walls once you have ingredients banked.

Do spells survive Rebirth?

Bottled potions stay in inventory, but slotted skills clear on Rebirth because the bar is avatar-state. Re-equip after a reset and re-test which spell role pays off under the new multipliers.

Where is the cauldron for brewing spells?

The cauldron unlocks through the Beginner Route or How to Play path. After it is unlocked, brew from the recipes in Brew Potions, then open the brewed bottle and press Replace Skill to add it to the bar.

Why is my Replace Skill button greyed out?

Both skill slots are full. Drink or sell the previous spell first to free a slot, then re-equip the new brew. The first slot is free; the second is unlocked via progression or Robux Unlock.
